Uncharted Africa Safari co. was founded in 1993 by Catherine Raphaely and Ralph Bousfield in memory of his legendary – some say infamous – father, Jack Bousfield. Listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for the dubious achievement of hunting 53,000 crocodiles, survivor of seven plane crashes, gored by elephants, stung by African killer bees... he did it all!

Our mobile safari expeditions, which include The Moremi and Okavango Delta, Central Kalahari Game Reserve and
Kalahari Bushmen Safaris, hold true to the ideals of Jack Bousfield’s original operations in East Africa. Traditional and spacious tents appointed with 1920’s luxury and style blend bygone comfort with rugged panache. Polished copper water jugs, paraffin lamps, pure white cotton sheets and feather bedding ensure an authentic safari experience – Real adventure in unreal style!

The eponymously named Jack’s Camp and the more recent San Camp and Camp Kalahari are the first permanent camps in the Makgadikgadi Pans and allow Guests to gain a comprehensive understanding of Botswana’s Kalahari Desert environment.
